Residual Heat

Ceramic, copper matte raku | 22 × 19 cm | 2023

From Nightmare — Surface Under

The surface carries the trace of heat, holding change after the moment has passed.

This piece begins from a face, then shifts through the raku process.

The firing leaves uneven color, scorched tones, and fine fissures across the surface. These changes are not fixed in a single moment—they appear to continue.

The face remains partly readable, but interrupted. Areas of compression and discoloration break the continuity of the features.

What stays is not a single rupture, but a lingering condition. The surface holds what has already happened, without fully settling.
