Portraits are
formed through fragments of each poet’s own writing, merging text and image on
the wall.
A public mural
developed for a school, bringing together portraits of Iranian poets and
elements of their writings.
Public Mural Project – School Commission, Tehran, Iran, October 2023
This work
includes portraits of poets such as Nima Yushij, Sohrab Sepehri, Parvin
Etesami, and Houshang Ebtehaj (Sayeh).
Each face is
constructed using fragments of the poet’s own text, allowing writing and image
to merge into a single form.
Some parts remain
readable, while others dissolve into the surface, becoming part of the
composition.
Installed on the
exterior of a school, the work is encountered in passing. Students and
pedestrians see it in fragments, at different times and distances.
What remains is
not a fixed image, but an ongoing encounter—where poetry and portrait are
experienced together within everyday life.
